This full backyard transformation in North Balgowlah is a perfect example of how clever design, quality materials, and attention to detail can completely redefine outdoor living.

Located in one of Sydney’s most beautiful, leafy Northern Beaches suburbs, this project started as a tired, underutilised backyard. The homeowners wanted a space that would not only look stunning but also serve as a functional, comfortable retreat for entertaining and everyday relaxation.

The team at Sydney Metro Decking handled every aspect of this outdoor transformation. We designed and built an integrated layout featuring an insulated pergola, premium ‘Backbeach’ composite decking, and sleek wire balustrading, each element carefully chosen to complement the home’s elevated setting and the relaxed North Balgowlah lifestyle.

The insulated pergola provides the foundation for year-round outdoor enjoyment. Its sleek, modern design not only adds architectural appeal but also offers practical benefits, complete with integrated ceiling fans to keep the area cool in the summer and built-in downlights to illuminate the space through the evening.

Whether it’s a weekend BBQ with family or a quiet evening outdoors, the pergola ensures comfort and usability in any weather.

Beneath the pergola, the crisp, inviting tones of the Backbeach composite decking bring a natural yet contemporary feel to the space. This material was selected for its incredible durability, low maintenance, and high-end visual appeal.

It captures the look of genuine timber without the need for sanding or staining, which is ideal for a location like North Balgowlah, where Sydney’s intense sun and weather elements are part of everyday life. The decking flows beautifully across the main entertaining platform and transitions into grand, wide-set stairs, creating a flawless sense of connection that enhances both form and function.

To complete the transformation, we added sleek wire balustrading, allowing uninterrupted views across the entire outdoor area. The open, minimalist design helps maintain an expansive feel while providing essential safety and compliance. It’s a subtle yet striking finish that ties the project together, balancing elegance, practicality, and modern structural design.

The end result of this North Balgowlah full transformation is a space that feels both sophisticated and relaxed. A true outdoor sanctuary built for modern entertaining and the ultimate Sydney lifestyle. Every element works in harmony, blending aesthetics with long-term durability. It’s a lifestyle investment designed to be enjoyed for decades.
