This project in Bayview, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was all about creating a comfortable outdoor living area that makes the most of a beautiful, leafy backyard.

We built a composite deck in the colour Backbeach, giving the space a warm, natural timber look without the ongoing oiling, sanding or staining that real timber needs.

Over the deck sits an insulated pergola with built-in downlights. It provides shade in the summer sun and shelter in wet weather, and the downlights mean the space can be enjoyed well into the evening.

Along the edge of the deck we installed frameless glass balustrading. It keeps the deck safe while leaving the view of the garden completely unobstructed.

The result is an outdoor space that flows from the house out to the garden, built to be enjoyed all year round.
